Thierry Cazeau, LMSW

Thierry Cazeau is the Executive Director of “I Have A Dream” – New York (IHDF-NY). He and his team are committed to increasing the Dreamers’ and families’ access to quality educational and enrichment resources, while continually working towards the goal of college matriculation and graduation for all Dreamers.

He served as Deputy Director of IHDF-NY and as Program Director for the IHDF-NY Ravenswood I Program in Long Island City, Queens, the neighborhood in which he grew up. Earlier in his career, Thierry served as a counselor for troubled youth under the auspices of the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services, and as an Assistant Director for The Institute for Student Achievement, working with at-risk middle school youth in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. He has also served as the Mentoring Coordinator for the Metropolitan Corporate Academy/Goldman Sachs Mentoring Program. He currently volunteers as a coordinator of the Queens Achievement Foundation’s Young Achievers Mentoring Program for young men of color, and serves on their Board of Directors. He earned both his B.A. in Social Science and an M.S.W. from Stony Brook University on Long Island, NY.

Catherine Diamond has been with “I Have A Dream” - New York since 2007. As the Director of Program Management, she works with the New York sites to ensure they have the resources to meet all of the Dreamers’ needs and she leads the data and evaluation initiatives. She began with IHDF-NY as the Director of Health Literacy where she created and piloted Building Wellness™ under the auspices of the Eugene M. Lang Foundation. Building Wellness is the first youth health literacy program designed for after-school programs. She is developing a complementary parent program.  She continues to lead many health and wellness initiatives at all of the IHDF-NY sites.  

Catherine holds a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from the George Washington University, as well as a Master of Public Health degree from New York University. Previously, Catherine served as the Manager of Patient Education and Outreach at The Wellness Community in Washington, D.C.

Marvin Cabrera

Marvin Cabrera has worked with youth for more than 18 years developing academic, career, and enrichment programs to support their college aspirations.  He has worked with undergraduate and professional volunteers to extend academic tutoring and college mentoring to middle and high school youth.  Marvin also formed partnerships to provide enrichment opportunities and career experiences, and to augment college scholarships for the youth, alumni and volunteers with whom he worked.

Marvin previously worked at Columbia University’s Double Discovery Center, where he served as an academic counselor guiding twelfth graders and their families through the college and financial aid process.  In this role, he helped more than 90% of his students gain admission to college.  He also has served as an assistant director, expanding his work at Double Discovery Center to include oversight of a seventh through twelfth grade program.  Through his leadership, Marvin was able to guide the development of a seamless program that included year-round academic and cultural enrichment activities for the youth and parent support workshops for their parents.  In his capacity as outreach coordinator, Marvin worked with Double Discovery Center alumni and volunteers to expand center-wide academic, college, career, and enrichment programming as well as solidify community and corporate partnerships.  

Marvin also has led college, financial aid, and career workshops forThe Facing History School, Global Communications Institute, Figure Skating in Harlem, Alpha G.E.N.T.S., Harlem Hospital Family Care, MOUSE Corps, and The DOME Project.

Marvin holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and received his undergraduate degree in Spanish from Wesleyan University.  He lives with his wife, Chaumtoli, and their children Zarif and Liyana on the Upper West Side. 

Leslie Gately, LMSW
Program Director, DeHostos-Wise

Leslie Gately holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Middlebury College. Prior to graduate school, Leslie spent several years providing direct service, program management, and fundraising support to several human service organizations.

During the 2009-2010 school year, Leslie interned at the “I Have A Dream” NY DeHostos-Wise program while earning her Masters in Social Work degree from Columbia University in 2010. In her time at DeHostos-Wise,  Leslie worked with the Dreamers in the program to provide individual counseling that focused on creating short- and long-term goals, increasing their coping, social skills, social supports, and academic functioning. In addition, she conducted psychosocial assessments with the Dreamer families; facilitated psycho-educational groups with a focus on peer pressure, sex education, self-esteem, and bullying; created psycho-educational curriculum for group sessions on healthy romantic relationships; provided case-management and crisis intervention for multi-stressed families; and maintained contact with schools, families, and outside agencies.

In October 2010, Leslie returned to the DeHostos-Wise program to assist the Dreamers, families and staff during a very difficult time for program. She accepted a position as the Assistant Program Director in December 2010. 

Karlisle Honore

Karlisle Honore is a native New Yorker who has worked with youth and non-profit organizations such as Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc., New York Cares, Inc. and Groundwork, Inc. She is interested in service, youth development, and education outside of the traditional school setting. Karlisle joined "I Have A Dream" - NY in 2005 as the Program Director of the IHDF-NY Ravenswood II program. 

Karlisle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a Masters of Science degree in Urban Studies from C.U.N.Y. Hunter College in New York City. 

Matthew Wright

Matthew Wright, a native of Boston, M.A., graduated from the School of Social Work at New York University in May 2005 with degrees in Social Work and Politics. He has experience working with youth of all ages, the elderly and homeless individuals. His work with children includes eight years at Summer Arts at Derby teaching classes based on visual arts, performing arts, and athletics, as well as three years in the New York City school system as an Assistant Teacher through the America Reads program.

Treston Lambert is currently the Program Director of the IHDF-NY Chelsea-Elliott II program. He has been a part of the IHDF-NY team since May 2007. Previously, he was the Assistant Director at the Harlem Children’s Zone Inc, TRUCE program. During his 13 years at the Harlem Children’s Zone Inc. Treston progressed from an intern to a program supervisor before his position with the TRUCE (The Renaissance University for Community Education) program. Treston has an extensive knowledge of community-based organizations and the New York City school system. He has received national training from the Children’s Defense Fund and the Corporation for National Services, and has served as a certified mediator for Victim Services of New York.

Natalie Corujo is a Dreamer alumni from the IHDF-NY Chelsea-Elliott I program. Natalie started working with the IHDF-NY Chelsea-Elliott II program in 2004.  As Program Manager, she oversees programming and program events, coordinates a mentoring program, supervises federal work-study students, and serves as the liaison for the sixth grade Dreamers. Natalie currently holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Language Arts from CUNY Hunter College.

Terrence Stokes Jr. is a Dreamer alumnus from the IHDF-NY Chelsea-Elliott I program. Terrence started working with the program in November of 2007 as Volunteer Coordinator.  He currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Johnson & Wales University in Miami, Florida. As Manager of Volunteer Services, he overseas programming and volunteer events, and coordinates a mentoring program. He also supervises, recruits, trains, and screens all Chelsea-Elliott II volunteers.

Larry Johnson is the Program Director for the Plainfield “I Have A Dream” program in New Jersey. He joined IHDF in 2002 after working with the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, N.J. and Girls, Inc. in Newark, D.E. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Delaware in 1997, and then earned a Masters in Non-Profit Management from Farleigh Dickinson University in 2007. Larry works very closely with his 65 Dreamers and provides them with a number of programs including tutoring, mentoring, counseling, and enrichment activities.

Angela Wyche is a certified elementary and middle level teacher and returned Peace Corps Volunteer, and now serves as the Academic Coordinator for "I Have A Dream" New York’s newest site in East Harlem. Prior to joining "I Have A Dream" in 2012 Angela taught elementary students with a high-performing charter network in Brooklyn. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s degree in French Language, Angela studied Education at the University of Vermont and obtained a Master’s Degree in Education. She is currently a Master’s degree candidate at Columbia Teacher’s College in International Education Development. Angela’s capacity as coordinator at PS 7 involves planning and implementing academic support for Dreamers during the after-school program; communicating with school staff about the needs of Dreamers; and supporting healthy academic, physical and social emotional development of the East Harlem Dreamers.
